He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph "Shorty" Freeman and Katie Sue Hickman Freeman; and his siblings, Daisy Lamb, Betty Jean Purifoy, Billie Jo Selph, Kenneth Freeman and Jimmy Dale Freeman.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Libby" Pennington Freeman of Millry, AL; his children, Rev. J. J. West of Millry, AL, Devin Smith of Millry, AL, Amber Smith of Millry, AL and Julie Wright of Millry, AL; and his brother Winfard Freeman (Jennie) of Sparkman, AR. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
