We are sad to announce that on November 10, 2023, at the age of 85, Autry Greer Megginson of Mobile, Alabama passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his wife Sally; his parents, Alice Greer Megginson and John Stanley Megginson; his siblings, Vidmer Downing and John Stanley Megginson, Jr.; and his niece Louise Oswalt.

He is survived by : his daughters, Sara Jane Megginson Holt (Bob), Missy Megginson Cunningham (Randle) and Greer Megginson Helmsing (Fred); his grandchildren, Ali McDonald, Andrew McDonald, Troup R. Cunningham, III (Mason), John Wallace Cunningham (Flavia), Greer Bradley (Connor), Sara Margaret Helmsing, Frederick G. Helmsing, III and Joseph G. Helmsing; his sister-in-law Betty Jean Megginson; and also Greer. He is also survived by two great grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, 1507 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604.

Someone wrote a sympathy message

“In loving memory of Autry Greer Megginson, Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Greer was one of the best Residents I worked with at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. He was so humorous and could make you laugh when you didn’t want to. He was so compassionate and good with the patients and families. One day he came down to the clinics , holding a little 1 yr old baby girl who was one of their patients. He said “I just wanted to show her where we work”. He is missed.”
