He is survived by : his daughter Ashley Flakes Steger; his parents, Deborah Flakes and Curtis Flakes Sr.; his aunts, Bettye Broadnax and Latricia Walker Austell (Tommie) of Georgia; his great-aunts, Fannie Burden, Sylvia Flakes, Loretta Allen, Hazel Tolbert (Lorenzo) and Elsie Ligon; his uncles, Trosky Davis (Corlis), Raymond Bailey, Elmer Jack Bailey and Clifton Davis; his cousins, Daphne Smith (Lionel), Delicia (Carl), Fuller, Alice, Velma Diaz, Anthony Burden, Jr., Warren Burden (Madonna), Ruth Ramseur (Otis), Michelle Grace (Sammie), Charo Jefferson (Robert), Jennifer Little (Frank), Vanessa Whitten (Richard), Clifton Burden, Bridgett Tolbert and Tanya Mercer; and also Kyle Branch Flakes.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Episcopal Church (605 Donald St, Mobile, AL 36617). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at the Catholic Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd Scholarship fund, 605 Donald Street, Mobile, Alabama 36617, in Curtis' name.
