He was predeceased by: his parents, David A. Askew and Louise Celeste Bass Askew; his brothers, David A. Askew, Jr. and James Paul Askew; and his nieces, Lisa Taulbee Evans and Darlene Askew.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly DuBose Askew; his daughter Jennifer Askew Dunbar; his granddaughters, Elizabeth Mays Dunbar, Georgia Raines Dunbar and Vivian Grace Dunbar; his daughter Ashley Goggans Yankoupe (Roger); his sister Mary Celeste Askew Taulbee (Harold); his nieces, Ashley Taulbee Burdine (Kint) and Ginger Askew Robinson (Danny); and his great-nephew Zachary Thomas Evans.
