He was predeceased by: his parents, Olevia Ransom Sr. and John Ransom Sr.; his siblings, Cherry Ransom-Jones, Johnnie Ransom-Nicholson, Earline Ransom-Johnson, Mildred Ransom-Harris and Larry Ransom; his nephews, Walter Ransom, Michael Jones and Thomas Ransom; his niece Willar Queen Jones; and his great-niece Chiquita Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ransom (Powe); his children, Tiffany Ransom, Mark Ransom, John Ransom III (Andrea), Christopher Ransom (Kejuandria) and Jeffrey Ransom Sr. (Mayalleata); his grandchildren, Bryan Columbus Ransom (Shayla), Zykia Knight (Donovan), Andre Ransom, Mark Lindsey, Bria Ransom, Jeffrey Ransom Jr., Maliyah Ransom, Christtersen Ransom, Caiden Ransom, Cedric King and Patrick King; his great grandchildren, Autumn Diamond, Ty'Niya Cummings, Tyitan Cummings and Dawson Knight; his siblings, Mettie Thomas Hephzibah (Calvin), Margie Ransom, Willie Ransom (Leola), Herbert Ransom and Lonnie Ransom (Vivian); and his aunt Elorra Bassett. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
