She was predeceased by : her husband James M. Lightsey; and her parents, James Kirk, Sr. and Eunice Rice Kirk. She is survived by : her children, Elizabeth L. Massengale (Don), Sharon L. Woods, James G. Lightsey (Sharon) and Keith Lightsey; her grandchildren, Sandy Brannon, David Higgins (Miche), Starr Smallwood (John), Kyle Lightsey (Randi-Lea), Blake Massengale, Bryan Lightsey (Kandis) and Tyler Massengale (Ellen); her stepgranddaughters, Rachel Mays (Dorothea), Heather Bland (Jason) and April Mays (Barb); her great grandchildren, Jimmy Spafford (Emily), Grant Brannon, Emma, Brooks Smallwood, Parker, Regan Lightsey, Emery and Bryce Lightsey; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Patrick and Morgann Bland; her siblings, Hazel Mosley and Bobby Kirk (Lizzie Mae); and her great grandchildren, Kyle Lightsey, Blake Massengale, Bryan Lightsey and Tyler Massengale. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Woodridge Baptist Church.

“My deepest sympathies to Ms Margaret's family and all those who loved her. She was a wonderful lady who always welcomed you into her home with a loving smile and a caring heart. She was a true family friend and neighbor.... time and distance never changed that. I am sure that my mother, Fran, was there to welcome her. They will be talking up a storm and catching up over 38 years. I pray God gives peace to all in the Lightsey family during these difficult times. With deepest sympathies.”
