He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Jean Jack Talbott; his children, James Richard Talbott (Ethan), William Jack Talbott (Lauren) and Jean Elizabeth Talbott; his grandson Bronson Ellis Talbott; and his siblings, Elizabeth Fritz (Ernest), Bill Talbott and Mollie Watts (Stephen). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Speech and Hearing Association or the Dr. Richard Talbott Endowed Scholarship in Audiology at the University of South Alabama.
