He is survived by: his wife Joan Goodwin; his children, Vernon Goodwin Jr. (Ericka), Jearl Goodwin (Dana) and Teresa Goodwin; his grandchildren, Trey Goodwin (Susan), Megan Atkins, Max Goodwin (Deanna), Rana Atkins, Hallie Walker (Wade Jr.), Christopher Richardson and Waelyn Richardson; his siblings, Bennie Goodwin, Toby Hollinghead, Jaunita Goodwin, Evelyn Weaver and Evelyn Landingham; and his siblings-in-law, Janette Ledbetter, Annette Copeland and Lynwood Moffett. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Valhalla Funeral Home (8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Valhalla Chapel (8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613). A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at the Valhalla Memorial Gardens (8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613).
