He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard Smith and Jo Lee Smith; his brothers, Howard Smith and Wayne Smith; and his brother-in-law Steve Burns.

He is survived by : his wife Sharon Burns Smith of Monroeville; his daughters, Julia Smith Maxie (Kyle) of Newbern, AL and Sarah Smith Chandler (Austin) of Monroeville; his brother Larry Joe Smith of Guntersville, Ala.; his grandchildren, Kolt Maxie, Kylee Jo Maxie, Rhett Blackmon, Beau Blackmon and Mary Ellen Chandler; and his parents-in-law, Nyle Burns and Wynell Burns of Albertville, AL..

In Lieu of flowers a Go Fund Me has been set up for Health and Final Expenses.
