As we bid Shelby farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Shelby is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Henry Maughon and Myrtice Lancaster Maughon; and her sister Shirley Maughon. She is survived by: her husband Hubert Steven Fails of Monroeville, One; her son Alex Fails of North Carolina, Three; and her siblings, Henry Levon Maughon (Madrine) of Saraland, James William Maughon (Edna) of Goodway, Brent Michael Maughon (Annette) of Frisco City and Betty Sue Maughon Morris of Mineola.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 14th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Monroe Chapel Funeral Home (2252 US-84, Frisco City, AL 36445). A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the New Home Cemetery.
