It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Henry Hughes of Montevallo, Alabama, who passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Henry departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Henry. Though Henry may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Chessley and Mary Dorothy Hughes; his siblings, John Chessley Hughes and Mary Geraldean Bice; and his grandmother Mary Jane Varden.
He is survived by: his wife Edith Carol Hughes; his children, Tonnia Spigener (Ronald) of Vida, AL and Samuel Rick Hughes (Richelle) of Jemison, AL; his grandchildren, Ethan Hughes of Jemison, AL and Ryan Spigener of Vida, AL; his brother Raymond Hughes of Montevallo, AL; and his sister-in-law Brenda Hughes of Montevallo, AL..
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Shelby Memory Gardens (8586 AL-25, Calera, AL 35045). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
