It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ray Franklin Lewis (Montevallo, Alabama), leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Lewis Sr. and Bertha Ann Wooley Carter; his siblings, Joseph Lewis (Lois), Stanford Carter, Nathaniel Carter (Mary), Haver Carter (Jaccolah) and Wanda Faye Carter; his wife Betty Lewis; his daughters, Carleta Johnson (Johnny) and Erica Jones (Jessie); his grandsons, Antonio Lewis (Jasmine), Christopher Holt, Joshua Johnson and Jonathan Johnson; his godson Bradley Blain; and his cousin Carleen Threatt. He was also cherished by Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, in-laws, Cousins.

“I worked with Mr. Ray for 7 years at Helena Elementary. He was so kind and caring. My son was a 2nd grader the first year I taught there and he loved Mr. Ray and Mr. Ray loved him. He always asked about my son when we had our daily chats and those chats were a major bright spot in my day. Mr. Ray will be greatly missed. The world was a much better place with him in it.
