He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Matthews and Mary Matthews (Blackwelder); and his siblings, Hazel Margie Matthews, Nora Moose and Luther Harold Matthews.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, William David Matthews, Jr. (Cynthia) and Martha Ann Dobnikar (Roger); his grandsons, Anthony David Michel (Erica), Matthew Christopher Michel (Taylor) and Roger Paul Dobnikar, Jr. (Kathryn); his great grandchildren, Anthony David Michel Jr., Kate Dianne Michel, Langston Wade Michel, Isabel Rose Michel, William David Michel and Katie Mae Dobnikar; his grandson Nicholas Michel (Nikkia); his great grandchildren, Loralie Melissa Michel and Lincoln Quentin Michel; and his sister Sara Lou Meike (Charles) of Clearwater, FL..
