He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Gates and Vera Gates; and his siblings, Martha Adams and Jimmy Gates. He is survived by: his wife Faye Gates; his children, Wanda Hamm (Carl) and Chuck Gates (Cindy); his grandchildren, Ashley Gates, Brittany Compton (Cliff), Kevin Hamm (Carrie) and Bradley Hamm (Retta); and his brother Michael Gates (Susan). He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
