He was predeceased by: his pet Max. He is survived by: his wife Mary Gilbert; his daughter Summer Bass (Kelly); his granddaughter Mary Margaret Bass; his sister Terrie Lanier (Paul); his sibling's children, Katie Lanier, Zachary Lanier and Garrett Lanier; and his friends, Don Sauls and Ben Kyser. He is also survived by brothers, and countless friends and brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alabama Kidney Foundation, in honor of Skeeter's enduring fight and resilient spirit.
