He is survived by: his children, John Douglas Sanford, Mary Owen McLemore, Joseph Graham Sanford Jr. and James Harvey Lewis IV (Jim); his brothers, Robert Lee Sanford Jr. and James Hopson Sanford (Dot); his siblings-in-law, Catherine Powell Hanks and Frank Douglas Powell III; and his grandchildren, Jackson Thompson Sanford, Tristan Cade Dunlap, Reid Owen Sanford and Graham McQueen Sanford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
