It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathleen Dees of Montgomery, Alabama, who passed away on March 19, 2025, at the age of 103, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Smallwood and Emily Smallwood (Davis); and her spouse Hansell Newman. She is survived by: her children, Johnny Newman (Marcia), Kay Newman and Tommy Newman (Becky); her stepson Dickie Dees (Celeste); her brother Arthur "Jimmy" Smallwood; her granddaughters, Jennifer Patrick (Scott) and Jessica Benjamin (David); her great grandchildren, Daniel Benjamin, William Benjamin and Eilidh Patrick; her stepgrandchildren, Christa Nicholson, Aaron Dees (Laura) and Greer Dees; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Eli Nicholson (Aidan), Caroline Smith (Wynn) and Lily Nicholson. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
