He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smith Sr. and Elizabeth Brasher; and his siblings, Judy Kennedy, John Smith Jr. and Jimmy Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Regina Elizabeth Smith; his sons, Gary Lee Smith (Dana Minor) and Michael Allen Smith (Violet); his grandchildren, Alexzander Smith, Ezekiel Smith, Baylee Smith, Lexy Erhart (Elijah), Cierra Ramey (Charles), Daniella White and Kyndall Minor; and his sisters, Kay Taylor, Nell Salyers and Deborah Creel (Steve).
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home (2214 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, AL 35071). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at the Liberty Minter Cemetery (1954 Self Creek Rd, Morris, AL 35116).
