He is survived by: his sons, Barry Richard Cates of Decatur and Richard Allen Cates of Morris, Alabama.; his siblings, Donny Cates (Vicki) of Hayden and Teresa Carlisle of Chelsea, Alabama.; his nephews, David Cates (Cassidy) of North Carolina, Steven Cates (Haley) of North Carolina, Brooks Jett (Maegan) of Moody, Alabama, Blane Jett (Britney) of Trussville, Alabama, Branson Montgomery (Jasmine) of Chelsea, Alabama and Tyger Cates of Hillsboro, Alabama.; and his aunt Betty Richardson of Florence. He is also survived by many great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
