He was predeceased by: his parents, George Washington Abney and Vera Hodges Abney; his wife Faye Vance Abney; and his siblings, George Merle Abney, Vernie Kenneth Abney, Alyce Abney Dray, LaVera Abney Reed (Bittie), Helen Abney Fromhold and Ruth Abney Holley.
He is survived by: his children, Steven Lee Abney (Debby), Donna Abney and Suzanne Abney Fields (Mark); his grandchildren, Candice Michelle Lippeatt, Joshua Steven Abney (Leah), Jonah Thomas Abney (Denise), Sarah Lippeatt Watson (Tyler) and Rachel Fields Wainman (Logan); and his great grandchildren, Addison, Lowen, Olivia, Cayson, Hudson and Haven.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Walker Chapel Funeral Home (1200 Ellard Rd, Fultondale, AL 35068). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens (1200 Ellard Rd, Fultondale, AL 35068).
