He was predeceased by: his parents, Earlon Self and Lucille Self Dilworth; his siblings, Kenneth Self and Brenda Self; and his grandparents, Curtis, Florence Martin, Tommy and Mamie Self.

He is survived by: his wife Myrna; his son Steven Self; his sisters, Faye Hunter Payton, Kathy Salmon (Bobby) and Sherry Stiefel (Eugene); his grandchildren, Jeremy Self and Natalie Lupo (Paul); his great grandchildren, Aleigha Self, Jude Self, Malachi Self and Holden Self; his aunt Margie Self; and his sons, Bill, Tim Lind, Alex, Emme and Charlie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations to be made to American Heart Association.
