She was predeceased by: her husband James Nelton Maples; her parents, Thomas Gordon Cowan and Laura B. Cowan; and her sisters, Margaret Cowan Martin and Mae Willa Cowan Stephens.
She is survived by: her children, James Danny Maples (Mary Ann), Joy Maples McCrary (Danny), Thomas Keith Maples (Susan Spano) and Marsha Maples McCard (Shane); and her grandchildren, Christy Maples Whitehead, Casey Nelton Maples, Astasha Stewart Baker, Tamera Stewart Wilbourne, Douglas E. Stewart, Jr., Tobis Ian Maples, Micah Eli Maples, Jeremy Ethan Maples, Michael McCrary, Brent McCrary, Blake McCard and Ashley McCard. She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the New Hope Funeral Home (2500 Oak Grove Rd, New Hope, AL 35760). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the New Hope Funeral Home Chapel (2500 Oak Grove Rd, New Hope, AL 35760). A burial was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Byrd Cemetery (201 Richard Brannum Cir, Owens Cross Roads, AL 35763).
