He is survived by: his mother Elizabeth Kay Johnson; his brother Micheal Putman (Melody); his sons, David and James Avis; his aunt Janie Weir (Ronnie); and his cousin Jeff Reeves. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering was held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville (2411 Memorial Pkwy NW, Huntsville, AL 35810).
