He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Jane Zimmerman Simpson; his mother Dorothy Teague Simpson; his siblings, Larry Lee Simpson and Betty Jean Simpson Kegg; his siblings-in-law, Johnny Zimmerman, Joe Zimmerman, Bob Zimmerman, David Zimmerman and Ruth Ann Williams; and his father Elmer Simpson.
He is survived by: his children, Doug Simpson (Christy) of Tuscaloosa, Becky Smithson (Mitch) of Tuscaloosa and Katie Farley (Charlie) of Duncanville, Alabama; his siblings, Edna Newman Sample of Harrison, Judy Southard (Brian) of Canton, Georgia, Omar Simpson (Barbara) of Shelbyville and Bobby Simpson (Sandy) of Winchester, Tennessee; his siblings-in-law, Gary Zimmerman of Winchester, William "Bill" Kegg of Tuscaloosa and Janice Simpson of Gautier; his grandchildren, Austin Smithson, Lynsey Simpson, Baylie Smithson, Grace Farley, Emmi Claire Farley and Tripp Farley; and his children-in-law, Christy, Mitch and Charlie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Northport Baptist Church, Northport, AL or little Sandy Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, AL.
