Though Austin may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He is survived by: his wife Allison Morton Bates; his children, John Austin Bates, Charlie Kent and Maggie Lee Bates; his parent Leslie Bates; his sister Nicole Garcia; his grandmothers, Jennifer Bates and Shirley Bates McMahon (Jim); his uncle Dewayne Bates; and his aunt Shirley Bates. He is also survived by other aunts, uncles.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lemley Funeral Chapel (6878 2nd Ave W, Oneonta, AL 35121). A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
