She was predeceased by: her parents, Otha Perfidy and Bama Lou Ivy Averett; her former husband William P. "Bill" Blackwell of Blackwell's Pinson Valley Furniture Store; her daughter Jean Blackwell Woods; her siblings, Mary Louise Gilmore, William Otha Averett and Johnny Clyde Averett; and her stepson-in-law Dale Williams.
She is survived by: her son Terry Blackwell (Peggy); her stepgrandchildren, Barbara Sanders (Jay), Traci Jones (Ben), Trisha Randolph (Jeremy), Barrie Woods (Kellie), Becky Garrett (Matthew), Brian Blackwell (Amanda), Shane Williams, Brandon Williams, Jeremy Hitt and Casey Hitt; and her husband Proverbs. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Pine Mountain Community Church (2678 Valley Grove Rd, Remlap, AL 35133).
