He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Mitchell and Margaret Maynor Peterson; his brother Robert Mitchell, Jr.; and his stepfather Palmer Peterson. He is survived by: his daughters, Rebecca Mitchell-Burchfield and Sarah Mitchell-Helmkamp; his brother William Mitchell (Sheila); and his grandchildren, Savannah, Jameson, Grace Helmkamp, Payton and Amie Burchfield.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home (1500 Frederick Rd, Opelika, AL 36801).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local volunteer fire department or rescue squad.
