He was predeceased by: his parents, Wood Gaston, Sr. and Marie Dean Gaston; his daughter Connie Hamil; and his brothers, Sonny Gaston and Donnie Gaston.
He is survived by: his wife Betty W. Gaston of Opelika; his children, Selena Kay Tapley (Gerry) of Waverly, Leigh Ann Thompson (Greg) of Camp Hill and Michael Shane Gaston (Becky) of Opelika; his grandchildren, Mathew Tapley (Sara Catherine), Steven Tapley (Becky), Abegale Faust (Cole), Andrew Hamil, Alex Henderson (Jim), Susan Gaston, Hayden Thompson (Tori) and Trent Thompson; his siblings, Dwight Gaston (Janice), Laura Evans, Elliot Gaston (Gail) and Jenny Fuller (Billy Wayne); and his brother-in-law Wallace Whitley. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Flint Hill Global Methodist Church (2858 Flint Hill Rd, Alexander City, AL 35010). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
