He is survived by: his pets, Smokey, Jasper, Zuzu, Winnie and Bo; his wife Carol Spivey Nelson; his grandchildren, Harrison Sherwin (Sarah) of Denver, Christine Hagenbeck (Corey) of Tallahassee, Matthew Sherwin of Denver and Eren Brosey of Denver, Colorado; his great grandchildren, Emma, Caroline Hagenbeck and Felicity Sherwin; his siblings, Bruce Nelson (Pat) of Florida and Gayle Nelson of North Carolina; his son Matthew Miller (Laura) of Morganton; and his grandchildren, Paige, Keaton, Hunter, Caroline and Marielle.
In lieu of flowers the family would welcome donations to Woof Ave Rescue, 2514 South College St., Auburn, Alabama.
