He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Donald Linton and Katherine Joyce Sholler; his cousins, Marc and David Barnhart; his wife Amy; his children, Matt Mersino and Lydia Griswold (James); and his grandchildren, Matthew, Madeline, Lawson, Ella Rose Mersino, Scarlett, James JoRell (JJ) and Sylvie Griswold.

Visitation was held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Trinity Methodist Church (800 1st Ave, Opelika, AL 36801). A celebration of life was held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Chattahoochee Humane Society in Valley, Alabama, to honor JoRell's love for animals.
