He is survived by: his wife Sarah; his children, Karla Bundy (Matthew) of Auburn, Dr. Sharon "Jill" Spurlin of Enterprise, Melanie Howard (Reed) of Hoover and Richard J "Jay" Spurlin, Jr. (Shannan) of Opp; his sister Jean Everage of Opp; and his grandchildren, Richard J "Trey" Spurlin, III, Joshua Bundy, Walt Spurlin, Jacob Bundy, Matthew Howard, Levi Howard and Sarah Bell Howard.
