It is with sadness that the passing of Irene Lavaun Smith (Oxford, Alabama) is shared. Irene, born on December 20, 1929, passed away on July 31, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Swinehart and Virginia Swinehart; her husband Lieutenant Commander William R. Smith of Munford, Alabama.; her children, Karen, Cheri and Bruce; her grandsons, Austin, Adam and Jared; and her siblings, Cathy, Delbert, Gene, Jim and Charlie.

She is survived by: her children, Diana Crews (Steve) and Robert Smith (Debbie); her grandchildren, Chris Cosby (Angie), Amie Barker (Jeremy), Melissa McDonald (Duke), Matt Lockridge (Amy), Justine Cain (Josh), Ashley Haynes (Lucas), Jordan Smith and Sarah Moore; her siblings, Juanita "Toots" Watson of Oregon and Bill Swinehart (Debbie) of Ohio; Cyndi Smith. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
