He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Allison Bates and Billie Anna Weaver Bates; and his grandmother Vera Kelley Weaver. He is survived by: his siblings, Linda Karen Bates of Ozark and Robert Weaver Bates (Lori) of Rosepine, Louisiana; and his close friend Laura Lisenby Scott of Ozark.
