He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Alexander Thompson and Lillian Pearl Stephens Thompson; and his siblings, Betty Jo Thompson West, Carolyn Thompson Bowden, Jennie Thompson Linderman, Garland, Allen, Gayle, Rhodes, Stanton, James and George Thompson.

He is survived by: his niece Teresa Herring-Young.
