He was predeceased by: his parents, William Woodrow Barefield and Margaret Walker Bohannon Barefield; and his siblings, Sarah Jones and Clifford Barefield. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie McGaffey Barefield; his sons, Christopher William Barefield (Natalie), Echo and Eric Steven Barefield (Rachel); his brothers, William Barefield (Kathy), Mike Barefield (Linda), Richard Barefield and Robert Barefield; and his grandchildren, Holden Barefield, Triston Barefield, Sarah Margaret Barefield and Oliver Barefield. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Echo Fire & E.M.S., 11687 E. Highway 27, Newville, Alabama 36353.
