He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Horne and Betty Jean Yates; and his grandmother Dessie Yates. He is survived by: his uncle William; his sons, Kaiwan Yates, Laronne Yates, Kreem Yates and William Yates; his sister Tarzia Yates (Brooklyn); his children, Marcus Williams (Shaddai), Jasmine Herring, D'Wan Gordon and Daijah Williams; his grandchildren, Mi'anna Kimbrough, Layla Kimbrough, Jaiden Kimbrough, Alanni Williams, Marcus Williams Jr. and Eli Gordon; and his nephews, Sha'Tek Yates and Isaiah Yates.
A funeral service was held on Friday, September 12th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Church of God (271 Willa Cir, Ozark, AL 36360). A burial was held on Friday, September 12th 2025 at the Westview Cemetery (974 Andrews Ave, Ozark, AL 36360).
