He was predeceased by : his parents, James Clarence Petty and Sarah Katheryne Petty; his wife Sue Bryant Petty; his siblings, Sarah Petty Dagenhart and James Ward Petty; and his niece Lee Ann Petty.

He is survived by : his children, Sandra Petty Walton (Mark) and Norman Scott Petty (Mary Hassell); his grandchildren, Kevin Walton, Nicholas Walton, Nathan Petty and Allison Petty; his brother W. David Petty (Carol); and his brother-in-law Larry Dagenhart.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 23rd 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery (475 Cahaba Valley Rd, Pelham, AL 35124). A graveside service was held on Thursday, May 23rd 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Southern Heritage Cemetery (475 Cahaba Valley Rd, Pelham, AL 35124).
