He was predeceased by: his brother John Milner Moon IV; and his father John Milner Moon III. He is survived by: his mother Rosine Brodie Moon (Beth) of Clay Chalkville; his daughter Mandy Maier; his grandchild Reese; his child Ashlie Wilcox (Mike); and his grandchildren, David, Brodie, Carrie Friend (Will), Katie, Brooks and Brett Moon (Jared Kornbluth).

Visitation was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Peoples Chapel Funeral Home (195 Brooklane Dr, Bessemer, AL 35023). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in David's memory to the ASPCA, a cause he cared deeply about.
