He was predeceased by : his parents, Adolph Marquardt and Pauline Marquardt (Heilig) of Asheville, NC; his wife Sarah Christine Moses; and his son Charles Alan Marquardt. He is survived by : his children, Roxann Maxwell (James), Marla Coker and Kelly Marquardt; his grandchildren, Katrina Coker and Jamie Maxwell Latham (Caylon); his great grandchildren, Jordan Billits, BayLea Billits and Luke Latham; and his friend Cindy Snow.

Cpl. Charles Adolph Marquardt of Pell City, Alabama passed away on Tuesday December 18, 2018, at age 88. After months of failing health, he died peacefully at home in Pell City, Alabama.
Charles was born March 28, 1930 in Marion, NC to Cordie Holtsclaw, and was soon after adopted by Pauline Heilig and Adolph Marquardt of Asheville, NC.
He joined the Army in 1953 where he built bridges in Alaska until 1954. On April 29, 1956 he married the love of his life, Sarah Christine Moses. They traveled state to state as Charles opened and managed new Zales and Golbro stores. They eventually settled in and raised their family in Bessemer, Al. Where they remained until he moved to be on Logan Martin Lake in 1997. Soon after moving he built, opened, and ran the Havoline Xpress Lube in Talladega, Al for several years.
Charles was a loving father to Gloria “Roxann” (James) Maxwell, Marla Kay Coker, William “Kelly” Marquardt, and the late Charles “Alan” Marquardt.
He was the proud grandfather of Katrina Michelle Coker, and Jamie Maxwell Latham (Caylon) and the best great-grandfather to Jordan Scott Billits, BayLea Christine Billits, and Luke Douglas Behm-Latham.
Special friends and neighbors Cindy Snow and her daughters Nicole (Shane) McCloud, and Jennifer (Jonathan) Sentenn.
