He was predeceased by: his parents, Rollin Carey Stevens and Rebecca Lee Lawler Stevens; his brother Charles Stevens; his stepsister Pat Thigpen; and his granddaughter Kristen Nicole Stevens.

He is survived by: his wife Martha Sue Stevens of Phenix City; his children, Vickie Eversman (Joe) of Phenix City and James Wayne "Bubba" Stevens, Jr. (Natalie) of Phenix City; his grandchildren, Jessica (B. G.), Rachel (Will), Rebecca (Davy), Wayne (Jenn), Joshua, Elizabeth and Spencer; and his great grandchildren, Emma, Carly, Caroline, Joseph, Rhett, Jessie Rae, Lily Grace and Faith. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
