He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Franklin and Frances Fuller Franklin; and his sister Norma Devlin. He is survived by: his wife Judy Dempsey Franklin; his children, Thomas Franklin, John Robert Franklin (Allison) and Brooke Sheppard; his brother James R. "Jimbo" Franklin; his grandchildren, Emma Franklin, Caleb Sheppard, Connor Sheppard, Caroline Sheppard, Brach Bessant (Sarah), Drake Bessant and Makayla Bessant; his great grandchildren, Luke and Landon Bessant; and his close friend Mark Anthony.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 12:00 PM and from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Vance Brooks Funeral Home - Phenix City (3738 US-431, Phenix City, AL 36868). A memorial service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
