He is survived by: his children, William C. Avant (Leslie) of Phoenix, AZ, Andrew Avant of Phenix City, AL and Elizabeth Avant (Jake Pearce) of Charlotte, NC; his siblings, Carolyn Blankenship of Florence, AL, Robert "Bob" Avant (Tamara) of Phenix City, AL and Wanda Wilcher of Pensacola, FL.; his grandchildren, Davis Avant, Rachel Avant and Crawford Avant; and his family Auburn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Phenix City Lakewood Hall (3770 US-431, Phenix City, AL 36867). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Lakewood Hall (3770 US-431, Phenix City, AL 36867). A committal service was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 4:15 PM to 5:15 PM at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary (3770 US-431, Phenix City, AL 36867).
