He was predeceased by : his grandchildren, McCoy Jake Bence and Matthew Jack Bence; his parents, Florence Myrick and Jake Herbert Houlton Sr.; and his sister Marie Houlton.

He is survived by : his daughter Jena Tucker Jennifer (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Dakota Bence, Wyatt Bence and Noah Tucker; and his siblings, Bettie Goolsby, Ann Fannin, Estelle Payne (Bobby), Delma Carter (Buzzy) and Randall Houlton. He is also survived by numerous nieces nephews cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either the Pine Level Baptist Church or Pine Level Cemetery Fund.
