James Bernard Whorton Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Bernard Whorton of Reece City, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 6, 2025 at the age of 93. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Bernard Whorton to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Mack Whorton and Annie Jo Whorton; his stepmother Nell Longshore Whorton; and his brother Harold Mack Whorton. He is survived by: his wife Edna Cheatwood Whorton; his son Kirk Bernard (Paula); his granddaughters, Holly Whorton and Allison Meyers (Zac); his siblings, Patrick Whorton (Joyce), Carolyn Chapman, Rita Collier and Becky Rhodes; and his sister-in-law Phyllis Whorton.

Upon his retirement, Jim and Edna worked with the Educational Foundation and hosted a number of foreign exchange high school students.
