She was predeceased by: her parents, Delbert Heard and Bertha Emfinger Heard; her husband Samuel Pate; and her sisters, Sandra Murphy and Dorthy Mitchell.
She is survived by: her sons, Bob Taylor (Sherrie) of Roanoke and Scott Taylor (Pam) of Woodland; and her siblings, Linda Holloway of Roanoke, Angie Bass of Roanoke, Mary Wilkins (Lynn) of Wadley, Tony Heard (Kay) of Wedowee, Susan Murphy, Jeanette Huddleston, Melissa Warren, Marsh Cosper, Marie Bailey and Sherree Heard. She is also survived by six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
