She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie Clay and Carmen Magdelina Garcia Walls; and her siblings, Jesse Walls, Frank Walls and Nanette Walls.

She is survived by: her husband James Hand; her son Matthew Shields of Roanoke, Ala.; and her brother Johnnie Walls (Sharon) of Blue Springs, MO.. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
