Ruby Hodnett Obituary

Funeral services for Ruby Jean Garrett Hodnett, age 79, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Sprayberry and Bro. Tim Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at Mt. Springs Baptist Church from 1:00 – 2:00 PM before services begin on Wednesday.

Mrs. Hodnett passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Tanner East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee, Alabama.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Hodnett's grandsons, Hunter, Ryan, Joe, Colby, Jack, Justin and Eli.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Edwin Greer Hodnett; children, Edwin Glenn Hodnett (Jacquie) , David Michael Hodnett (Kim), Regina Lynn Fulghum (Kyle) , and Mary Elaine Cagle (Sean); grandchildren, Jennifer Michelle Hodnett (Carrie), Julie Ann Sparling (Grant), Joseph Glenn Hodnett, Jackson Greer Hodnett, Lacye Paige Gibson (Brandon), Kendyl Ciara Hodnett (DJ Lance), Eli Drew Hodnett, Morgan Elizabeth Taylor, Patrick Hunter Fulghum (Lauren), Jacob Ryan Fulghum (fiancée, Taylor), Justin Kyle Fulghum, Canaan Sloan Cagle, and Colby Gauge Cagle; great-grandchildren, Harrison Philip Sparling, Isla Kingsley Sparling; Mia Kinslee Gibson, Finlee Paige Gibson; Milli Skye Lance, Kyler Slade Lance, Natalie Reese Lance (on the way), Brynlee Elizabeth Welch, and Charlie Saige Fulghum.

Mrs. Hodnett was born in Randolph County, Alabama, on June 25, 1942, to Ruben and Ulalla Pope Dunn Garrett. Mrs. Hodnett worked in the cafeteria at Southern Union, Meadowcraft and was self-employed in the poultry business. She was a member of Mt. Springs Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hodnett was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruth Graves and Lera Bolt; brothers, James Dunn, Gerald Garrett, and Herman Garrett.
