She was predeceased by: her parents, Nick Thomas and Louise Thomas; her husband James Helms, Sr.; her son Steve Helms; her grandsons, Nicholas Randall Adams and David Clark, III; and her brothers, Horace and Jimmy Thomas.
She is survived by: her children, James Helms, Jr. (Fay), Rose Clark (David), Kathy Smith (Mark) and Melissa Thornton (Tim); and her sisters, Flossie Norris, Martha Waddell and Janie McCluskey (RF). She is also survived by nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
