It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Darrell Eugene Fretwell Sr. of Seale, Alabama, who passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Darrell may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Darrell touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton "Polka dot" Sylvester Fretwell and Charlotte Ann Weems Fretwell; and his wife Romona Childs Fretwell. He is survived by: his children, Crystal Fretwell (Stephen Gilbert), Carrie Fretwell (Timothy Nagy), Shampree Fretwell, Steven Prophitt, Darrell E. Fretwell, Jr. (Chelcie), Bobby Fretwell (Brittany Hagler), Christpher Fretwell (Courtney Johnson) and Jeremy Childs; and his great grandchild Margaret Fretwell. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren, other family members and friends.
A memorial service was held on Monday, November 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Vance Brooks Funeral Home - Phenix City (3738 US-431, Phenix City, AL 36867).
