He was predeceased by : his parents, Bill Fricks and Marie Fricks; his grandparents, Gurley and Mary Ethel Smith; and his brother-in-law Maurice Johnson.

He is survived by : his daughters, Lynn Crabtree (Richard) and Leigh Sutherland (Daryl); his sister Helen Johnson; his grandchildren, Tea Klien (Issac), Marie Kaydance and Della Smith (Justin); his great grandchild Devyn Sutherland; and his close friend Brenda Smith.
